Quranic scholars have used various structural models to prove the coherence and cohesion of Quranic verses. Meanwhile, the model of Halliday and Hassan has been more welcomed by both Quranic scholars and scholars of non-Quranic texts with a structuralist approach. In their joint work, the two linguists devised a model for discovering the coherence of texts written in Standard English. Of course, this model is applicable to all languages. In this article, among the Persian-language researches who have used Halliday and Hassan model of coherence, ten researches were evaluated in the period of the 90s, in terms of their selection and success rate in the correct understanding of the model, and its exact application in the Qur'an verses (Surahs) by qualitative meta-analysis method. The result of this meta-analysis is the discovery of drawbacks and weaknesses that exists in the correct understanding of this model, such as the separation of conjunctive relations from grammatical cohesion, incomplete introduction of cohesion subsets, and lack of attention to the theory of coherence. Misunderstanding of the model leads to its unsuccessful adaptation to the Qur'anic verses (surahs), the most obvious manifestation of which is the neglect of the components of Halliday and Hassan’s model. Not referring to the main source in understanding the model is the most important and major cause of these problems.
