The relationship between angels and humans after the end of prophecy is one of the neglected epistemological layers in Islamic thought. The readings of orientalists such as Ethan Kohlberg and Linda J. Clark, despite opening a channel for recognizing narrative phenomena, face methodological and conceptual shortcomings due to their reliance on the historical-functional model and neglect of intra-religious foundations. This research aims to systematically criticize the aforementioned views and reconstruct the conceptualization and function of hadith in the Imamiyyah hadith system, using a descriptive-analytical method with a critical-applicative approach. The data were extracted from authentic Shiite narrative texts and the works of the orientalists in question and analyzed based on the principles of hadith hermeneutics and Imami theology. The findings show that Orientalists, by identifying hadith and inspiration, ignoring the four typologies of its realization including: the sound of a bell in the ear, the sound of a needle in the heart, the hearing of the angel's words, and the examination, and reducing the position of the soul to an ordinary angel, have failed to reflect the epistemological complexities and theological boundaries of this doctrine. Also, reducing the function of hadith to jurisprudential accountability or emotional bonding is in conflict with its precise demarcation from legislative revelation and its guiding-supplementary function.
