The Ahl-e Haqq is recognized as an esoteric sect whose adherents primarily reside in western Iran. Their beliefs are a blend of Manichaean doctrines, ancient Iranian religions, Ismaili teachings, Indian reincarnation, and other secretive religious traditions. Despite the prominent position of Orientalists in academic circles and their attention to this sect, this study seeks to answer the question: What critiques can be made regarding Vladimir Minorsky's perspective and research methodology in introducing the Ahl-e Haqq sect in the Encyclopedia of Islam (Leiden, EI2)? This paper employs a descriptive-analytical approach to critically examine the article on the Ahl-e Haqq, focusing on the historical explanation of the sect, the evolution of its doctrines, and the author's research methodology. The findings indicate that the author has utilized a phenomenological approach, adopting a convergent rather than a critical-historical perspective to analyze the sect's doctrinal transformations and the function of its religious teachings. Although certain aspects, such as the varieties of Ahl-e Haqq and some of their beliefs, remain incomplete, the author has managed to present an image of the sect that aligns
