Mythology in the Qur'an is one of the topics that has been received the attention of western scholars with different approaches and methods. The philological approach is one of these approaches that examines the linguistic topics of the Qur'an and tries to link these topics with the concept of myth. According to the western scholars, myth is a narrative or a story that explains and describes the world with the help of archetypes. Orientalists have investigated this issue by relying on the philological approach and using the biblical criticism methods. The method of philology, which is a method of biblical criticism, mainly includes the study of the languages of the Scripture in their widest range. This method has received much attention in the studies of contextual scholars, and they have tried to investigate the relationship between the Arabic language of the Qur'an and other languages by examining the languages and linguistic and literary forms of the era of the revelation of the Qur'an. In this article, we try to investigate the western scholars' point of view about the myth in the Qur'an according to the philological method and approach and analyze it in the form of a case study. Criticisms of the method and the fact that the views are based on assumptions are among the criticisms of this group of western scholars.
