A Study of the Islamic and Quranic Approaches of Orientalists Regarding Islamic sources, especially the Holy Quran, is considered as one of the most important topics in Quranic studies. The importance of this discussion lies in the fact that there is a direct relationship between how we view the historical validity of early Islamic sources and our understanding of how Islam and the Qur'an originated. Using a descriptive-analytical method and relying on the opinions of other Orientalists, this article explains and analyzes the skeptical approach of non-Muslim Quran scholars active in the United States. This pproach, with its presuppositions influenced by the common intellectual-scientific paradigms in the West and the critique of sacred texts (New and Old Testament), has dealt with the realm of Qur'anic studies. Regardless of the differences in nature and context of the revelatory Qur'an with distorted sacred texts, it often looks at the Qur'an from the perspective of the New and Old Testaments. Moreover, by ignoring the authentic Islamic narrations regarding the validity and authenticity of Islamic texts, it considers the Qur'an as a human text and imposes on the Qur'an an approach based on a materialistic, human worldview as well as an attitude consistent with the sacred texts. The presuppositions and research method of this approach have been seriously criticized by the Qur'anic research circles and have been reviewed, and finally, its weakness and instability have been revealed.
